Gasoline prices continued to drop nationally and locally, as reflected by a $3.09 per gallon average price for regular gasoline in Vancouver that is 5 cents lower than a week ago, AAA Oregon/Idaho reported Tuesday.

Washington’s average dropped by a nickel to $3.12, the nation’s fifth-highest average price, while Oregon’s average went down 7 cents to $3.03.

The four-week slide in gas prices nationally is the longest string of price drops since January, AAA reported.

The average price nationally has dropped 20 cents over the past month while prices in both Oregon and Washington dropped by 12 cents from a month ago.

AAA said lower crude oil prices and strong refinery production are driving down gas prices. It predicted that prices would continue to drop at least until Labor Day.
