PUYALLUP — Authorities say a man who stole a vehicle and shot at officers during a high-speed chase in Puyallup may have killed another man before his confrontation with police.

Puyallup police say in a statement that officers responded Tuesday afternoon to reports of a man walking down a street firing a handgun.

When police arrived, the suspect shot at officers and one police vehicle was hit by gunfire. Police say the man then entered a house, stole a sports utility vehicle and drove it through a garage door.

The man continued to fire at pursuing officers before he crashed the vehicle near the Washington State Fairgrounds. Authorities say he got out, fired more shots and was taken into custody after an officer rammed him with his vehicle.

No officers were injured. Authorities are investigating whether the suspect fatally shot a male found dead in a home.
