GLENWOOD, Wash. — The Cougar Creek Fire on the south side of Mount Adams has grown to more than 9,400 acres, fire officials reported today.

An interagency team has taken over management of the blaze, which is about six miles north of Glenwood.

The Yakama Indian Nation has closed it Tract D section on Mount Adams to the public. The Washington Department of Natural Resources has closed state lands and recreation sites in its Glenwood block.

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest has closed 10 trails plus roads Nos. 80 and 82.

The government reports 242 firefighting personnel are assigned to the blaze, which is in a mix of timber, logging slash and tall grass.
