Coho catches still strong off southern Washington, northern Oregon coasts

ILWACO, Wash. — State officials reported today that salmon angling off the southern Washington and northern Oregon coasts remains good, with a catch average of 1.4 fish per rod.

For the week ending Sunday, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife estimated 4,869 angler trips with a catch of 875 chinook and 6,008 coho.

Anglers have taken 32 percent of the coho quota and 24 percent of the chinook guideline for waters between Cape Falcon, Oregon, and Leadbetter Point, Washington.
