BEAVERTON, Ore. — A Beaverton police officer wounded in a deadly shootout at a mobile home park last month has returned to duty.

The Oregonian reports Officer Scott Burke returned to patrol Aug. 6.

Police had responded to Hidden Village Mobile Estates on July 8 after a report of a man screaming.

When police arrived, 59-year-old Michael Westrich started throwing bricks at them from outside his home. Westrich then stepped outside onto his porch and fired at police with a shotgun, striking Burke several times.

Beaverton police spokesman Officer Mike Rowe says three officers had returned fire, killing Westrich.

All the officers involved have returned to work.

The Washington County District Attorney’s Office will review the shooting to determine whether the officers’ actions were justified.
