SEATTLE — The U.S. Coast Guard says a crew intercepted $1 million worth of MDMA near the San Juan Islands.

Authorities announced the catch on Saturday, two days after the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Swordfish boarded the boat.

Officials say the vessel was carrying more than 50 pounds of the drug, which is also known as ecstasy or Molly.

A 24-year-old Taiwanese man was detained and faces drug trafficking charges.
