A convicted sex offender wanted by police has been located and is in jail, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Izak L. Shackelford, 23, is a Level 3 sex offender, the classification given to sex offenders considered a high risk to reoffend. He failed to report to corrections officials as required, the sheriff’s office said Friday.

Shackelford’s GPS tracking device was disabled, the sheriff’s office said, and he was last observed leaving a restaurant in Hazel Dell without paying.

At about 10 p.m. Sunday, Deputy Adam Beck responded to Wal-Mart at 9000 N.E. Highway 99 on an unrelated shoplifting call when he spotted Shackelford.

“He came up to the deputy and turned himself in,” a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, Sgt. Fred Neiman, said.

Shackelford is being held on a community custody violation.
