SEATTLE — Authorities say a ride-share passenger is facing hate crime charges over allegations that he attacked his driver and accused the man of being linked to a terrorist group.
KCPQ-TV reports the 36-year-old suspect was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assault and malicious harassment, Washington’s hate crime statute.
Police had responded to the Seattle area after the driver, who has been treated for minor facial injuries, reported the alleged attack.
Police say the driver had picked up three passengers. The driver reported that the passenger in the front seat started grabbing at him and accusing him of being a terrorist.
