Highlights of the ongoing exhibits and attractions around town

“News Aloft: The Dawn of Aviation Reporting in the Pacific Northwest,” 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Pearson Headquarters Building, Confluence office, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, 1109 E. Fifth St., Vancouver; 360-693-0123. An exhibit of aviation news reporting and photography by the late Leverett G. Richards, a pilot and reporter in Clark County for nearly 70 years. He covered the Vanport Flood, D.B. Cooper and eruptions of Mount Saint Helens from the air.

Oregon Museum of Science & Industry, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. 1945 S.E. Water Ave., Portland; $13; $9.50 for seniors and ages 3-13; $2 on the first Sunday of each month. • “Mazes,” Feb. 7-May 6. Visitors can explore 13 interactive mazes, along with illusions, puzzles and brainteasers to showcase how the mind works to solve challenges.

Portland Art Museum, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. 1219 S.W. • “Italian Style: Fashion Since 1945,” Feb. 7 – May 3. This comprehensive look examines at what propelled Italian designers to the world stage, with 100 ensembles and accessories by famous fashion houses, including Valentino, Gucci, Missoni, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Versace. This is the exhibition’s only West Coast stop. Special admission: $20, $17 for seniors, $17 for students, free for ages 17 and younger.

Portland Japanese Garden, noon to 4 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. 611 S.W. • Early Fabric Making features a working rug loom which uses selvage wool from Pendleton Woolen Mill. Also on display are sewing machines, spinning wheels, wool-carding tools and blankets.

• Displays of artifacts, photographs and oral histories on local education, businesses and home life. Native American baskets are also on display. Genealogy and historic research is also available. The restored Carriage House features a blacksmith shop and tools.
