VANCOUVER — An authority on meteorites will discuss the objects from outer space Thursday at Pearson Air Museum, 1501 E. Fifth St.

Dick Pugh, with the Cascadia Meteorite Laboratory at Portland State University, will speak at 6:30 p.m. in the museum’s Tex Rankin Theater.

His topic will be “The Meteorite Petting Zoo,” and will feature examples of objects that survived their trips through the Earth’s atmosphere and wound up in PSU’s collection. People also can bring possible meteorites for Pugh to evaluate.

The program is the second public lecture in a free seven-week series, “Imaginings of Flight: the Past, Present, and Future of Aviation.”
