BREMERTON — A new-style Discover Pass has gone on sale, as the Washington State Parks agency looks for more money from park users.

The new pass is made from a tear-resistant material with a green nature scene. It replaces the yellow paper permit that was introduced in 2011.

The pass went on sale this week at state parks and Department of Licensing offices.

The cost remains $30 for a year’s vehicle access to Washington’s 124 state parks plus lands managed by the state Fish and Wildlife Department and Department of Natural Resources.

Parks business development manager Katie Manning tells the Kitsap Sun the agency also is looking to sell passes on the Internet or through retailers who might bundle it with outdoor gear.
