DALLAS, Ore. — The Polk County sheriff’s office says more than four dozen neglected horses and goats have been rescued from a property in Dallas, Oregon.
The sheriff’s office said Wednesday that deputies who visited the property in late January with a veterinarian and members of the sheriff’s mounted posse determined many of the animals were emaciated and in need of immediate care.
They found 38 horses, 20 goats and more than a dozen birds, as well as one dead horse.
The sheriff’s office says the owner, 41-year-old Monica Foster of Dallas, was cited for investigation of animal neglect. She’s due in court March 19.
Dallas is west of Salem.
