Go: Ideas for your weekend — Cultural Lu’au, Vancouver goes Hollywood

1. Hula in February

Travel to the islands without leaving Vancouver during the Cultural Lu’au. The Ke Kukui Foundation hosts its annual lu’au featuring traditional music and dances from Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa and New Zealand. Attendees can enjoy authentic food, island goods and more starting at 11 a.m. Feb. 21 at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 3000 N.W. 119th St., Vancouver. 2. Golden ticket

Journey to a world of pure imagination during “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Jr.,” presented by Journey Theater Arts Group. Charlie Bucket is one of the five children to discover a golden ticket in a chocolate bar, getting the rare chance to tour the famous Wonka factory and meet its mysterious candy maker. The performance begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 20-21 and Feb. 27; 2 p.m. Feb. 22 and March 1, and 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Washburn Performing Arts Center, 1201 39th St., Washougal. 3. Oscar-worthy

The third annual Vancouver Goes Hollywood event offers the chance for movie fans to walk the red carpet. The black tie event features red carpet fashion interviews before watching the Academy Awards’ televised screening from 4 to 9 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., Vancouver. 4. All about that buzz

Bee experts Sherian Wright and Jacqueline Freeman will talk about the insects they admire during All About Bees. Wright, the author of “Mason Bees for the Backyard Gardener,” has studied bees for more than 10 years. Freeman, the author of “The Song of Increase,” is a pioneer in natural beekeeping. 5. Beer for a cause

The third annual Brew Fest for MS will raise money and awareness for multiple sclerosis by raising a pint. The festival will feature seven Clark County brewers showcasing their newest beers, along with nonalcoholic drinks. There also will be a “Bikes for Beer” drive; those who donate a child or adult bicycle for Bike Clark County will receive additional tasting tickets.
