PORT ANGELES — Attendance is up at three national parks in Washington state.

A spokeswoman with Olympic National Park, Barb Maynes, says good weather and increased marketing helped boost the number of park visitors there by nearly 10 percent. The park drew 3.2 million visitors in 2014.

The Kitsap Sun says 2014 was a record-breaking year for national parks nationwide. About 293 million people visited national parks last year.

Olympic National Park ranked as the sixth most-visited national park with Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee in the top spot.

Mount Rainier National Park and North Cascade National Park also saw a 10 percent increase in attendance in 2014.
