The Ports of Portland and Longview are considering propane export terminals. Together, those terminals would bring six propane trains through Vancouver each week. See why ILWU Local 8 and the president of ILWU 21 are opposed. Google on the Internet “propane train fires” or “bleves.” Nine oil trains have caught fire or exploded within the last 20 months, most recently on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16 in Ontario and West Virginia.

Urge the port commissioners to consider the risks to Vancouver, Camas, Spokane and all up-track communities. Urge them to say no to a propane terminal. Comments may be submitted via the port’s website, http://www.portoflongview.com/. Find the link under Quick Links, on the right. It states “Comments submitted by February 20th will be compiled and forwarded to the Port Commission for consideration prior to the vote on the Haven Energy proposal scheduled for March 10th.”
