Foss 60, Columbia River 49 — After trailing for much of the game, the Chieftains gained a one-point lead at 49-48 but then ran out of gas as Foss pulled away to win the 3A bi-district third-place game at Rogers High School.

“We did a good job getting back in the game, but we didn’t execute, and had some turnovers,” River coach David Long said. “We were playing the way wanted the game to go, but it fell apart in the end.”

Columbia River (17-5) is playing without its leading scorer Joey Bean, out for the rest of the season with a leg injury.

Spencer Long led the Chieftains with 16 points, and Andrew Vickers had 13 points.

“Joey Bean makes such a huge different,” David Long said. “Credit our kids to get to where we are. I feel bad for him and his teammates. There’s nothing we can do.”

Columbia River will learn where it will be for the 3A state regional round when the draw is announced Sunday night.
