Clark athletic report for week of Feb. 23

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Record: 18-7 overall, 11-3 NWAC West division (second place); ranked No. 6 in NWAC coaches poll.

This week’s schedule: Clark at South Puget Sound, 8 p.m. Wednesday; Highline at Clark, 3 p.m. Saturday (regular-season finale).

Last week: Defeated Grays Harbor 83-76; won at Centralia 77-37.

Tournament chase: With two games to play, Clark is one game out of first place and two games ahead of three teams tied for third. Highline is the lone team to have clinched one of the four NWAC Tournament spots from the West region.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Record: 13-9 overall, 8-6 NWAC West division (fourth place).

This week’s schedule: Clark at South Puget Sound, 6 p.m. Wednesday; Highline at Clark, 1 p.m. Saturday (regular-season finale).

Last week: Defeated Grays Harbor 82-22; lost at Centralia 60-53.

Tournament chase: Three of the four NWAC Tournament spots from the West region have been clinched. Clark can clinch the No. 4 seed by winning its last two games. South Puget Sound is a half game behind Clark, making Wednesday’s game rather large.

BASEBALL

This week: Clark is scheduled to open its season with a pair of doubleheaders against Green River at Kindsfather Field. Saturday’s games begin at noon, Sunday at 11 a.m.

SOFTBALL

This week: Clark opens its season with four games at the NWAC Preseason Crossover on Saturday and Sunday at Richland. Clark’s home opener is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, March 2 against Centralia.
