Three Portland men appeared in Clark County Superior Court on Monday after allegedly being involved in a Saturday morning shooting in downtown Vancouver.

Police Cpl. Bill Pardue was working in downtown Vancouver when he heard gunshots around 2:15 a.m. He was informed that a police sergeant was following a white minivan allegedly involved in the incident and that the minivan was heading his way, according to documents filed in Superior Court.

Pardue was at the corner of Eighth and Main streets when the minivan approached. He helped stop the minivan and apprehend three people who were inside: Shalon D. Freeman, 22, Adrian L. Marshall, 22, and Howard D. Washington, 21, all from Portland. All three have prior felony convictions out of Oregon, according to court documents.

Police found a .380 caliber handgun under the driver’s seat. Two bullets and spent casings were found on the ground as well, according to court documents.

Freeman, Marshall and Washington were each arrested on suspicion of unlawfully possessing a firearm and booked into the Clark County Jail.

The Vancouver Police Department continues investigating what happened and asks anyone with information about the incident to contact police.

All three men are slated to return to court on March 6.
