Volunteer Connections provides opportunities through the Human Services Council.

• The Arc of Southwest Washington is looking for a volunteer with media experience to assist the business developer with emails, phone calls and research.

• Clark County Historical Museum seeks a publication designer to do the layout and cover design of its annual anthology of historical articles from our region.

• Clark County Veterans Assistance Center is looking for customer service volunteers.

• Vancouver Fire Department is looking for Fire Corps volunteers at community safety events and with smoke alarm installation, research and technology.

• Washington Trails Association seeks volunteers to build and maintain trails.

• West Columbia Gorge Humane Society has many volunteer opportunities in the dog and cat shelters.

The city of Vancouver seeks to fill a vacancy on its Aviation Advisory Committee. The nine-member group advises the city on matters related to Pearson Field and aviation issues in general. There is no city residency requirement for this position. The committee meets at noon on the second Tuesday of each month at Pearson Field and the total time commitment varies from two to six hours monthly.

Cougs in the Community, organized by Washington State University Vancouver, seeks help from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 10811 S.E. Second St., Vancouver. Volunteers will organize, recycle, and fix cabinets and other furniture. Volunteers should wear outdoor attire with sturdy, closed-toed shoes and bring tools, if available. People 17 or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
