Letter: Uproar gets us off track of issues

It appears that the current religious issue is diverting everyone’s attention from important items. Anyone would have known from the start that mixing religion with a political proposal would have caused a huge uproar.

Politicians have become very adept at creating wedge issues like this and other kinds to divert the public’s attention from more nefarious activities, or just as a strategy to win. It’s a safe thing to do with religion because there will always be many supporters during and afterward. People just don’t seem to realize what’s happening during the scam, getting caught up in emotion.

Please, there has just been another horrible oil train derailment in West Virginia, with a tanker going into water and an enormous explosion that could have killed hundreds.

Please, let’s get refocused, and do not allow the Clark County council to sidetrack us with antics.
