Finally, the weather feels a little more like February. The first ‘real’ rain fell Wednesday after two weeks of dry weather. Not much, but a start in the right direction. Snow was falling at Timberline and Meadows on Mount Hood but there was still just a rain or rain/snow mix at Government Camp.
The snow level will lower and several inches will fall at Government Camp, with more in the higher elevations. Locally, showers will continue today and Friday, but as of this writing on Wednesday afternoon, the weekend looks sunny and nice. Not as spring-like as last weekend but still rather nice for February. Another cold system from the north returns Monday, bringing rain and mountain snow.
As the cold trough of low pressure moves through on Friday, I would expect a chance of a thunderstorm or two and maybe an ice pellet shower. The low drops to California, Nevada and Arizona and will bring some late winter snow to that region. Every snowflake helps!
On Monday, when the next cold front arrives, chillier rain will fall. When skies clear Tuesday night, a good frost is possible early Wednesday morning. The timing may be off on these fronts but you get the picture.
