Highlights of the ongoing exhibits and attractions around town

Columbia Springs Environmental Education Center, 7:30 a.m. to dusk daily. Tours by appointment. 12208 S.E. Evergreen Highway, Vancouver; Free. A 100-acre urban natural area including forests, woodlands and wetlands at the historic Vancouver Trout Hatchery. The Grotto, 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. 8840 N.E. Skidmore St., Portland; Free for the lower gardens; $4.50, $3.50 for seniors, $2.50 for children ages 6-11 for upper-level gardens. Sixty-two acres of botanical gardens, more than 100 shrines, and sanctuaries for rest and relaxation on two levels. • “Anne Frank: A History for Today,” through April 14. The exhibit depicts the life of Anne Frank, who wrote daily in her diary from 1942 to 1944 while hiding with her family, with photos, survivor testimony and documents.

• “Shadows of Conflict: Clarke County and the Civil War” through Feb. 28, explores — through documents, artifacts and images — how the Civil War affected the Western frontier.

• “The Art of War: Propaganda Posters of World Wars I and II,” Feb. 28-Dec. 7. During both World Wars, the United States ran many public relations campaigns, creating enduring images and messages. The exhibit features posters from the Mark Family Collection.
