Letter: Youth issues overlooked

The Columbian

The youth in Vancouver are seemingly being ignored. When was the last time you’ve heard a good story of youth being in the news or having a major impact on our community?

Their concerns, suggestions and propositions seemingly dissipate into the vast governmental system and are overlooked as opposed to those of older, more prominent persons. Have the youth no say in what goes on in the community around them?

I think the youth in our community ought to have more say in what occurs in our county. Their voices should be heard more clearly and prominently by the people and those in charge. They are the future, and if our future isn’t involved in our present, what kind of future will we be living? A future that is misinformed, unaware and oblivious as to what has to be done in order to provide a life for those to come.

The youth should be more involved in the community now, so that they feel at home in it in the future.
