Letter: Lawmaker’s independence admired

So, the local Republican Party is thinking about censuring our congresswoman because they don’t like the way she voted on a few issues. What is all this about? I voted for Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, to represent me (and you) in the House of Representatives, in the Congress of the United States of America. I am an independent and do spend the time and effort to follow her voting record. Although I don’t agree with every position Congresswoman Herrera Beutler takes, I do agree with her 90 percent of the time.

If the local Republican Party bans her from speaking at campaign events and/or being featured in any of the local party’s literature, maybe she should run as an independent in 2016. She would get my vote.
