From a two-legged dog to seniors zip-lining through forests, 2014 introduced us to many inspiring people and some thought-provoking stories. While looking back, we’ve selected some of these memorable videos to not only showcase local heroes, creatives and survivors, but also to take a glance at the bigger picture. Here are the 10 most-watched videos we published in 2014. The list is sorted by the number of times each video was viewed.

Justin Carey's life was changed in 2013 when he was hit by a car while waiting for the school bus. After receiving a prosthetic leg and battling severe depression, a German Shepard service dog named Shiva entered the 16-year-old's life. Shiva is being trained to help Carey with physical and emotional stabilization as he continues to overcome his struggles. Video
