ASTORIA, Ore. — The mother of a 2-year-old girl who died Dec. 20 at a Seaside home has been accused and jailed in her death.

After a grand jury indictment, officers arrested 24-year-old Dorothy Wing on charges of murder by abuse, manslaughter and criminal mistreatment, KOIN reported.

Her live-in boyfriend, 26-year-old Randy Lee Roden, was previously arrested on an aggravated murder charge.

Evangelina Wing would have turned 3 in January.

An autopsy showed she died of blunt force trauma.

Emergency crews responded to a 911 call that the child was not breathing, but she was dead when they arrived.

Police have not said who placed the call or if a weapon was used to kill the girl.

Wing’s two sons, ages 5 and 2, were hospitalized with injuries and placed in state custody, police said. Authorities haven’t described their injuries or conditions.

Wing was arrested Wednesday, the Clatsop County sheriff’s office said. Her first court appearance was scheduled Friday afternoon.

Records show Roden was arrested in 2012 in a domestic violence case involving a different woman.

He was charged with crimes such as sex abuse, strangulation, kidnapping and unlawful sexual penetration before ultimately pleading no contest to coercion and serving about 10 months. He was released in January 2014.

The aggravated murder charge could carry the death penalty.
