Clark County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Gasperino appeared in Skamania County court Monday to face a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Gasperino was present for the first appearance with his attorney, Jack Green. The crime allegedly was committed in Clark County but was transferred to Skamania County in accordance with a mutual request by Green and the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Gasperino, 35, of Vancouver was arrested Dec. 22 after a Washington State Patrol trooper pulled him over on northbound Interstate 205. In documents filed in Clark County District Court, the trooper observed Gasperino’s vehicle drifting across lanes of traffic several times at about 2:30 a.m.

The trooper, smelling alcohol, had Gasperino perform a sobriety test and arrested Gasperino, according to court documents. His blood alcohol content was 0.175 percent, documents said. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.

Gasperino’s pretrial hearing is scheduled for Jan. 20.
