Clark College Taste of Scotland set for Jan. 15

Vancouver — A January tradition in Scotland is a Burns Night honoring 18th-century Scottish poet Robert Burns with song, food and cheer. Clark College and Mill Creek Pub will present A Taste of Scotland: Ode to the Haggis on Jan. 15 at the Clark College Columbia Tech Center, 18700 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. The social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and the program starts at 6 p.m.

A traditional Scottish supper will include an authentic haggis that will be ceremonially marched into the venue with a bagpipe procession. Entertainment will include recitations of Burns’ poetry. Live and silent auctions will be emceed by Alexander “Sandy” McKenzie.

The event will raise scholarship money for students from Scotland to attend Clark College. In recent years, Clark College’s international programs have expanded, and now surpass 200 students.
