A Bellevue man faces charges for the death of a Vancouver woman found in a Portland hotel room last month.

Tae Bum Yoon, 26, appeared in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Friday to face a murder charge in connection with the Dec. 26 death of Ashley Renee Benson, 24.

Benson’s body was found in the Double Tree Hotel Lloyd Center, 1000 N.E. Multnomah St. An autopsy determined she had died of homicidal violence.

Detectives developed information Wednesday leading them to Yoon, who was on a train headed to Portland, according to Portland police. Detectives were waiting for Yoon when he arrived and held him for questioning before booking him on Thursday, Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson said.

Investigators in Bellevue assisted Portland police.

Yoon’s next court hearing is scheduled for Jan. 20.

The Associated Press reported Yoon is a native of South Korea and is known by the first name Chris.
