Corbett Fish House, a popular eatery whose owners operate two restaurants in Portland, is preparing to expand to Lacamas Crossing shopping center in Camas.

The restaurant, 19206 S.E. First St., Suite 102, will have inside seating for 100 people, with room for 60 on the patio in good weather, said Dana Boyce, a co-owner with her husband and business partner, Toby Eidem. Boyce said the owners hope to have the restaurant open in mid- to late February.

The restaurateurs said they seized an opportunity when the restaurant site, which had been occupied by Brothers Burgers, became available.

“It’s a fabulous spot and we’re not having to do a whole lot of work,” Boyce said. Eidem, who has family in Clark County, was a big advocate of opening a location north of the Columbia River, she said.

The Camas/Vancouver area “was a natural place to come,” said Boyce. The area’s demographics were favorable to the moderately priced restaurant, which offers entrees in the $10 to $25 range, Boyce said. In the east Vancouver/Camas area, “there aren’t a lot of restaurants that aren’t chains,” she said.

The seafood restaurant lists gluten-free fish and chips as one of its specialties, and it is a draw for many diners who travel to Portland from Clark County or beyond, Boyce said.

The original Corbett Fish House is in an older Portland neighborhood at 5901 S.W. Corbett Ave., between Interstate 5 and the South Waterfront. That location opened in 2002.

Boyce and Eidem also own a second seafood restaurant, the Hawthorne Fish House at 4434 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd., which opened in 2006.
