YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Federal agents raided smoke shops in Yakima, Wenatchee and Kennewick Thursday and arrested six people accused of selling illegal synthetic drugs.

Yakima police spokesman Mike Bastinelli tells the Yakima Herald-Republic agents and officers from several agencies arrested four people in Yakima and two in Kennewick and Wenatchee. They are expected to make initial appearance Thursday in federal court in Yakima.

Bastinelli says the raids were the result of a year-and-a-half investigation of synthetic drug sales.

The operation involved the Drug Enforcement Administration; Department of Homeland Security; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and local police.
