Week 5 winter sports prep athlete of the week nominees

Nominees for high school winter athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Jan. 10. Voting will conclude at 8 p.m. Thursday with results published in Friday’s Columbian

ROBERT FRANKS, EVERGREEN BOYS BASKETBALL: Franks had 45 points and 21 rebounds in a league win over Mountain View.

SIERRA JONER, BATTLE GROUND GIRLS WRESTLING: Joner placed second in the 115-pound division at the Kelso Girls Tournament, including two pins.

TREVOR NEWBURN, RIDGEFIELD BOYS WRESTLING: Newburn won the 113-pound division at the Bearcat Invitational in Chehalis.

TAMIKA TAYLOR, FORT VANCOUVER GIRLS BOWLING: Taylor averaged 198 in four games, including games of 233 and 226 vs. R.A. Long.

CHRIS XUE, MOUNTAIN VIEW SWIMMING: Xue set a school record and qualified for state by placing 2nd in the 200 free at the Kentridge Invitational.
