Advanced Gastroenterology is now accepting applications for its Free Colonoscopy Day.

During Colon Cancer Awareness month each year, the Salmon Creek clinic offers free colonoscopies for those who can’t afford the procedures. This year, the event will take place March 19.

Applications for the free procedures must be submitted by Feb. 10. Applications are available at Advanced Gastroenterology, 2415 N.E. 134th St., Suite 205. To receive an application by mail, call 360-576-5060.

Applications will be reviewed and approved based on financial need.

Colorectal cancer screening should begin at age 50 for average-risk men and women. A person is considered “average risk” if he or she does not have any symptoms, does not have a family history of colorectal cancer and does not have a personal history of cancer or polyps.
