Girls basketball: Kalama 56, La Center 31

The Chinooks used a big second quarter to sink the host Wildcats in a game between the top two teams in the Trico League.

Kalama outscored La Center 20-4 in the second period to lead by 20 at halftime.

Kaelyn Shipley scored 16 points and Mackenzi Badger and Parker Esary added 12 apiece for the Chinooks, who improved to 4-0 in league games.

La Center fell to 4-1 in league and 11-2 overall.

Bethany Whitten scored eight points, and Katie Whitten had six assists and seven steals for La Center.
