A Battle Ground man was found dead in a condominium’s water feature in downtown Portland early Wednesday morning, according to the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office.

At around 1:30 a.m., Portland police were called to the Waterfront Pearl, a high-rise complex at 1310 N.W. Naito Parkway.

Zacharee Stanford, 19, was lying unconscious in the complex’s water feature, according to the Portland Police Bureau. He was dressed as though he was living outdoors, and he was last known to be living in Battle Ground, police said.

The water feature is a large pool that wraps around the two condominium buildings.

The medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy, including a toxicology exam, to determine the exact cause of Stanford’s death. There is no indication of foul play, police said.
