HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Washington County sheriff’s office caught a felon with two guns and apparently stolen property after a car chase ended in a crash Wednesday night in the Raleigh Hills neighborhood of the Portland area.

A deputy attempted to stop the car after it ran a red light. It sped off but ran off the road at a curve and crashed.

The sheriff’s office says a man identified as 36-year-old Michael Peterson of Beaverton ran off but was arrested behind a house.

Deputies found a stolen gun in the car along with car electronics that appeared stolen. They say Peterson also tossed a loaded gun as he was running.

He’s held in the Washington County Jail without bail on charges including felon in possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
