PORTLAND — Two former dancers at a Portland strip club have filed a federal lawsuit, contending the owner failed to pay them the minimum wage.

The lawsuit filed Jan. 11 says Matilda Bickers and Amy Pitts left Casa Diablo in July after each performed there for more than two years. It claims they got paid only with tips or a percentage of a fee set by Casa Diablo for private dancers in secluded rooms.

The suit also seeks damages for battery, saying the women were subjected to unwanted touching by customers and bouncers.

Casa Diablo touts its vegan menu. Its officials did not return a message seeking comment.

Manager Johnny Zukle, who is named as a defendant, told Willamette Week the women are independent contractors and the lawsuit is frivolous.
