I thought we lived in the 21st century? But it appears some of you are in the mindset of the 1940s with the passing of home rule charter way of governing. Washington state is governed by Dillion’s Rule legal principle, plus the Growth Management Act, the passing of which is a blessing. Home rule charter folks’ rhetoric forgot to educate folks as to these all have to be followed. So you honestly think we the people can govern ourselves and do it better with more county councilors? Think again. There are studies out there saying that home rule charter is about control and will cost us all more money.
The only good thing I see with what was written with the charter is ordinances will have to be enacted within a time period, but nothing about them being filed with the courts? But they fail to say how we will pay for it right away. Also on the down side is the fact that all councilors are elected at the same time?
So if the home rule charter doesn’t work, how will we overturn it fast?
