PORTLAND — Alec Wintering sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Portland to a 72-69 win over Pacific on Thursday night.

Wintering, who scored seven of his eight points in the second half, extended Portland’s narrow lead to 69-66 with a pair of free throws with 19 seconds to go, but Pacific (10-10, 2-6 WCC) tied it 10 seconds later with a 3-pointer from Dulani Robinson. Wintering then took the ball to the other end and fired just ahead the buzzer, hitting the bucket for the win.

Kevin Bailey led Portland (12-8, 3-5) with 21 points and Thomas van der Mars added 17 points while grabbing eight rebounds.

Pacific trailed by as many as 11 points in the second half but closed the gap with a 12-3 run that briefly gave the Tigers the lead 62-60 with 3:46 to go before Portland edged back.

Robinson led Pacific with 17 points.
