Fellowships offered to Native American artists

The Columbian
Published:

American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian artists nationwide have until April 6 to apply for the 2015 Native Arts and Cultures Foundation (NACF) Artist Fellowship.

Awards of up to $20,000 apiece will be made in six artistic disciplines: performing arts, filmmaking, literature, music, traditional arts and visual arts.

Performing arts is a new category in this grant round.

“More Native artists than ever before are exploring performing arts through multi-disciplinary approaches,” program officer Andre Bouchard said. “We are looking forward to seeing what Native performing artists have been up to around the country.”

Artists who are members of state- and federally recognized U.S. tribes, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian communities should review criteria and complete an application at http://your.culturegrants.org before the 5 p.m. April 6 deadline. Award announcements will be made in August. Contact Bouchard at andre@nativeartsandcultures.org or (360) 314-2421 with questions.

Previous fellowship winners are ineligible to apply. Learn more about the Native Arts and Cultures Foundation, based in Vancouver for the past few years, at www.nativeartsandcultures.org.
