Evan Garrison scored a game-high 24 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Clark College men’s basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped with a 75-67 loss to Green River on Saturday at Auburn.
“We were at a really high spot, coming off a big win,” Clark coach Alex Kirk said, referring to Wednesday’s 95-73 win at Highline. “We said all week, (Green River) would be our toughest game of the year. And it was.”
Bryan Berg added 14 points for Clark (14-6, 7-2 NWAC West). Antony Dunn had nine rebounds.
Clark lead by as many as seven points in the first half, but Green River (14-8, 5-4) kept it tight. The Gators took the lead for good at 27-25 with 4:48 to play before halftime.
Green River had its biggest lead of the game, 14 points, with 1:25 to play. Clark chipped away and got within seven with 11 seconds to go.
• WOMEN: Green River gradually pulled away for a 54-37 win over Clark as the Penguins made just 2 of 21 3-point attempts.
Alexa Orcutt led Clark (10-7, 5-4) in scoring with 13 points. Taylor Howlett had 12 points.
The Clark basketball teams next host Lower Columbia on Saturday, Feb. 7. The women’s game begins at 3 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 5 p.m.
