A garbage truck driving with its back door up got caught on power lines along West Fourth Plain Boulevard, which dislodged a pair of telephone poles.

The truck was traveling east on Fourth Plain in west Vancouver when it got caught on a phone line at Harney Street, said Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp. The phone line and another power line fell and landed on an eastbound tanker truck. The tanker driver went to get the lines off the truck and was shocked by a static charge; he was not electrocuted, Kapp said. Although he was not believed to be seriously injured, as a precaution he was taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center for an evaluation.

The intersection was briefly shut down while police investigated and the lines were cleared from the street. Both commercial vehicles were inspected.

One household lost power.

The driver of the garbage truck was cited for having the door up as he was moving, Kapp said.
