GOLDENDALE, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say two southern Washington grass fires restricted traffic Thursday night along portions of U.S. Highway 97 near Maryhill and along Washington Highway 14.

The Washington state Transportation Department cautioned that drivers should expect long delays and use alternate routes.

KATU-TV of Portland, Oregon, reports that Klickitat County Emergency Management director Jeff King says one fire has been contained while a larger one continued to burn late Thursday night. No size estimate was immediately available on that fire.

Multiple fire districts and the Washington state Department of Natural Resources are helping fight the fire. It’s reported burning near Maryhill, about 10 miles south of Goldendale, Washington.
