Letter: History of other flags may offend

The Confederate flag offends the black race and almost all of Americans feel it should go away.

You must then really feel outraged that the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were written by slave owners. Just to name a few slave owners, there’s James Madison, George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. And all of their families owned and approved of slavery and segregation. Wow, that must really irritate you. They founded and molded this country. They fought and died to support their beliefs. Should we ignore these facts?

Is the American flag a symbol of slavery and does it raise terrible feelings for blacks and minorities?
