The Health Systems Quality Assurance Division of the state Department of Health took disciplinary actions or has withdrawn charges against these Clark County health care providers.

In October, the Nursing Commission indefinitely suspended the credential of licensed practical nurse Cyndi M. McBain. The Department of Social and Health Services found that between Jan. 1 and 31, 2013, McBain neglected and abused a vulnerable adult living at an adult family home she owned and operated. McBain didn’t seek appropriate and timely medical intervention and treatment for a resident who had developed multiple pressure ulcers.

In December, Implants Dentures and Dental, doing business as Half Dental, Brandon D’Haenens and Jason McKew agreed to cease and desist from the unlicensed practice of dentistry. Neither have dentist licenses, which is a requirement for running a dental office in Washington. Half Dental accepted advance payment from patients who were treated or were scheduled to be treated at its Vancouver office.

In December, the Home Care Aide Program indefinitely suspended the home care aide credential of Nicole Maureen Mallars, who didn’t comply with a substance abuse monitoring contract.

In January, the Nursing Assistant Program entered into an agreement with registered nursing assistant Robert B. McBain under which his credential is suspended for at least two years. McBain and his wife owned and operated an adult family home that admitted a 97-year-old dementia patient who developed wounds that weren’t properly cared for. The patient died after being admitted first to a hospital and then to hospice care. The state Department of Social and Health Services found that McBain had neglected a vulnerable adult.

In January, the secretary of health issued a cease and desist order to Yan Min Niu for practicing massage therapy without a license. She was also fined $1,000. Niu engaged in the practice of massage with at least one client.

In January, the secretary of health indefinitely suspended the massage practitioner credential of Stacy Jean Stalcup, who practiced massage and advertised her massage services with an expired license.

In January, the Nursing Commission indefinitely suspended the registered nursing credential of Shannon Leigh Latendresse. Her medical history listed her as a daily intravenous drug user who regularly injected heroin.

In January, the secretary of health suspended for at least five years the registered nursing assistant credential of Kathleen Jean Conner. While working at an adult family home, Conner committed several thefts from other employees and from a resident.

In March, the Nursing Assistant Program amended a statement of charges against certified nursing assistant Barbara M. Naylor to add a reference to a section of state law.

In March, the Nursing Assistant Program charged certified nursing assistant Cheriese N. Sellberg with unprofessional conduct. Charges say Sellberg assaulted a grocery store manager when she was stopped for suspicion of theft. Sellberg then fled the store, leaving behind her purse that allegedly contained heroin. In 2014, she was convicted of third-degree assault and third-degree theft.
