PORTLAND — Portland police say a man stabbed a police officer and was shot early Sunday in northeast Portland.
The officer and the male suspect were taken to Portland hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening. Their identities were not released.
It was not clear what led to the incident, and police released few details Sunday morning.
Police say officers approached the man at about 1:41 a.m. and almost immediately reported that an officer had been stabbed and the suspect shot.
Detectives are investigating.
Police say when the investigation is done, the case will be given to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, which will present it to a grand jury.
Portland police say it will release additional information following the grand jury or when the case is complete.
