OLYMPIA — A Seattle man is accused of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of marijuana in connection with a fatal crash in Tumwater.

The Olympian reports that 26-year-old Patrick Lee Martin appeared in Thurston County Superior Court on Monday. His bail was set at $30,000.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Martin on Saturday had been driving a Chrysler 300 at speeds exceeding 100 mph when he struck a Volkswagen Jetta, which then rolled into a ditch.

The Jetta’s driver was 43-year-old Jennifer Barry of Beaverton, Ore. She died as a result of the crash.

Court documents state that Martin told troopers he had fallen asleep while driving. Troopers smelled marijuana on Martin and conducted an evaluation, which revealed he had been under the influence.
