OLYMPIA — The Senate is expected to vote to delay a class-size initiative, the final component of a two-year $38.2 billion state operating budget signed by Gov. Jay Inslee last week.

The Senate vote on Thursday comes after a weeklong standoff threatened to blow a $2 billion hole in that budget, and clears the way for lawmakers to adjourn its third legislative session. The Senate is also expected to vote on a separate bill that was part of the ultimate compromise. That measure will delay a requirement for high school students to pass a high school biology exam for this year and 2016, which helps about 2,000 students at risk of not getting diplomas.

The House is expected to be on the floor Friday to vote on final components of a transportation revenue package.
