An Oregon man in custody at the Clark County Jail is suspected of stabbing a man to death June 20 in Milwaukie, Ore., according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Daniel Ryan Gillispie, 29, of Oregon City, Ore., in connection with the alleged slaying of 26-year-old Alexander Mosbey.

Gillispie has been in custody at the Clark County Jail since Tuesday. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, according to the jail’s roster. Authorities say they believe the allegation is unrelated to the alleged killing. Gillispie and Mosbey, who didn’t have a permanent address, were apparently acquaintances.

It is unknown when Gillispie will be transported to Oregon. The case has been submitted to the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, someone called 911 at about 9:45 p.m. on June 20 to report a death at a home at 14010 Briggs St. in Milwaukie, Ore. Deputies responded and found a man, later identified as Mosbey, who had been stabbed to death with a knife, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say they’ve encountered some challenges in the case. The house where Mosbey was stabbed has apparently fallen into disrepair in the last few years, and there has been a significant number of people living at the home and in the yard. There have been dozens of people associated with the address in recent years.

Detectives with the Clackamas County Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit and the Clackamas County Interagency Major Crimes Team are still investigating the incident. Additional arrests are possible.
