A pair of brothers were arrested after allegedly taking someone’s cellphone at gunpoint Tuesday night.

The alleged robbery was reported at 10:09 p.m., a while after it had happened at 5000 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., a business complex. The victim said that a vehicle pulled up next to him and the driver asked to borrow his phone. When the victim handed over the phone, the driver said he would be borrowing the phone for an hour or so, said Sgt. Kathy McNicholas of the Vancouver Police Department. When the victim protested and asked for his phone back, a man in the passenger seat allegedly pointed a gun at him and told him to step away from the car, McNicholas said.

Officers canvassed the area in search of the suspects but came up empty. Later, an employee at one of the businesses called police and said the suspects had returned to 5000 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., which is next to the police department’s east precinct. Vancouver police pulled over the suspect vehicle and arrested Vadim Vasilchuk, 36, and Yuriy Vasilchuk, 40, McNicholas said. Officers did not find the handgun that the victim said the brothers had displayed.

The Vasilchuks were booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
